Sinsational 11th May

May 11th saw the Sinsational Spring Awakening in Helsinki, and what a night it was.
The Event was organised by Bettie Blackheart and Helsinki Burlesque, so a big thank you goes out to them for doing a great job as always.
The hostess and guide for our time in the spring garden was the lovely Babu G.
What is it that is needed to be able to get any wonderful blooms in a garden?
Seeds of course, you must have seeds to be able to get things to grow, and you must protect those seeds from not only the harsh cold weather, but also from birds, so to protect the seeds in our garden we had not one but two of the most lovely Scarecrows you could ever imagine.
Kiki Hawaiji and Bent van der Bleu teamed up for the first time to show us how scarecrows burlesque when humans are not paying attention to them. The sight of so much bare straw was amazing, and I am sure would have been driving any field mice watching crazy.
Around the next corner in the garden we was to find a common sight in Finnish parks and gardens, a juggler, but this was no ordinary juggler, this was the one and only Pepper Sparkles, showing her talent and skill just keep getting better and better.
Babu G then took us to meet a Horse that was visiting the garden from Switzerland, Koko La Douce. This was a very energetic meeting, and Babu G had her hands full with this horse.
In the shadows some things can become invisible, while in the light they sparkle and shimmer and are very visible, and a perfect demonstration of this came from Tinker Bell with the first of two new performances from her. She will never manage to be totally invisible as she shines so bright.
We then stopped by the pond in the garden and spent time admiring the English Goldfish Anna fur Laxis. there was nothing fishy about this performance, and it left many wanting to bait their hooks.
Leaving the pond behind us we moved on, only to find that the garden had been invaded by pirates, well one pirate to be exact, and he was not invading, he was searching for his treasure. So we took a moment to help Frank Doggenstein locate his goodies.
Having aided our newest friend we met the lovely Bettie Blackheart who was out walking her new puppy. Bettie was excited to show us her new Burlesque routine, but the puppy tried to get in on the performance by attempting to run away with one of Betties stockings.
A short distance on and we met the most lovely couple Sir Willy Waterlily and Sandy Jungle. This time it was Sandy Jungles turn to show us her newest routine, and as to be expected from the standard of the evening, we was not to be disappointed.
Also new in the garden for this night was Bent van der Bleu and his new Bacchus Roman god of wine, it was totally intoxicating.
Very few performers could follow such a performance as we had just witnessed, but around the next turn we was to meet up with one of the few performers who could. Gigi Praline was in the garden delighting us all.
Moving along after this we was to find Kiki Hawaiji, who it would appear had found some little crabby friends of her own, (perhaps they had been hiding in the straw earlier).
Flying around the garden was our very own Beija-Flor (hummingbird) Tinker Bell, teasing us in her bright colours, with the second of her new routines.
Every good garden needs a gardener, this garden was no exception. Sir Willy Waterlily is an extraordinary gardener and I feel sure there would be plenty of households that would employ him to tend to their gardens.
You should never forget to have daisies in your garden, and what better daisies to have than Thee Dizzy Daisies, they are always pleasing, and they took us through a quick tour of the seasons.
nearing the end of the tour around the garden we was treated to a Russian fairytale by Bettie Blackheart, this is always a delight, and the headdress (by Fiona Timantti) is amazing.
Once again it was the turn of Switzerland and Koko La Douce, and she had a real treat for us, the world premier of her new routine.
Finally we caught up with the English Rose Anna fur Laxis one last time before the garden closed to the public, and she treated us to her tribute to Betty Page.
During our walk we had on many occasions observed a pretty little blue flower (Wivian Wondrous) helping a cute little bumble bee (Millie Mimosa) with the pick up, sometimes having to run away from the naughty little bee.
While we had been going around the garden there had been the most pleasing music playing, it was of course provided by the wonderful Fiona Timantti and Atom of Finland (sadly no usable image available).
Thank you to everyone who took part for a most enjoyable time, there was so many world premiers of routines that we was totally spoiled, and I think we can safely say that spring was well and truly awakened at the end of the evening.
