Turku Burlesque Weekend Wins our Hearts

Many times while I have been living in Finland I have been asked what is the best thing to come out from Turku, well now I can give an honest answer, and no it is not the motorway, it is the Turku Burlesque Weekend.
The line up for the Friday evening Burlesque and Drag Spectacular was exactly that, Spectacular, and more. When you see the DJ is Fiona Timantti, the Host is Lamey Crackhouse, and the Organiser is Turku Burlesque, you know you are in for something really special, a quality event all the way.
Starting the evening off was the elegant Brion Bonaventura with her Two Jacks number, she dealt us a delightful routine with grace and style that really got the evening going.
Next to delight us was local artist Sophie le Sucré, she brought the big gun with her, and was not afraid to use it, with charm and beauty I might add.
Tinker Bell flew in with her wonderfully addictive Humming Bird, this routine is full of colour and glamour, as Tinker Bell moves seemingly effortlessly around the stage making for a routine you just have to see.
Beaming in from the UK was Fancy Chance. Well what can I say about this wonderfully talented lady and this terrific routine? Honestly you had to be there to witness this first hand, I can say without doubt that Star Trek Original Series, Sulu and Uhura will never be the same again.

Vera De Vil once again was sheer passion in purple as she displayed such enthusiasm for her performance, this young lady certainly knows how to turn up the heat.
Normally working 9 to 5 Honey Pomelo took a little time out to show us around her office, we was not to be disappointed with the tour as she introduced us to her filing cabinets. Dolly Parton would have been proud
Taking to the Burlesque Stage for the first time was Olga Regina, and she handled it very well, keeping us all waiting to see just what would happen next in her routine.
Kitty Litter was next with a new routine that was just splendid, her moves are so elegant that you just cannot help but watch and enjoy every moment.
Behind every successful man there is an even more successful women, mother, housewife, but this success can take it’s toll as demonstrated by the extremely talented Trixie Malicious. The way this housewife goes about her daily tasks is not for the faint hearted, and she has found her own way of coping with it, although I do have to say that I will never quiet look at a roast chicken or turkey the same way ever again.
Shopping is an important part of everyone’s lives, and the sweet Kiki Hawaiji just like the rest of us gets bored and tired of the same can foods, so she casts them aside in favour of a more iiiiiksotic fruit.
The Prince of boylesque Bent van der Bleu is always a pleasure to watch, and his Dionysus is just amazing, the movements, the dance, everything about this is just pure enjoyment.
The Itty Bitty Tease Cabaret took us back to the darling age of Art Deco with their beautiful costumes and elegance of performance, these ladies certainly have grace and style.
Closing the show was a wonderful duo, the artist formally known as Fancy Chance and Trixie Malicious, there are no words to describe this amazing performance that would do it justice, I can only say that I was privileged to be there to witness this remarkable pairing.

Our host for the evening was the amazing Lamey Crackhouse, something this lady takes very serious indeed, so you do not mess with her when she is on stage. Those that do had better be willing to pay the price, as did one poor member of the audience who was made to get on stage and do his little turn for us, unfortunately I was unable to catch his name to give him proper credit for his involvement in the nights entertainment (perhaps someone who knows can add it in the comments). As always the wonderful DJ Fiona Timantti was on hand to provide the music when needed at short notice, (see I told you it was a quality event) but unfortunately there are no usable images for either the audience participation burlesque or of Fiona (but I do promise there will be pictures of her in future posts).
Through all of this the lovely Elisa Day had done an excellent job as Pick up.
A big thank you to Kiki Hawaiji and the rest of Turku Burlesque, and we look forward to more quality events from you.
